A great number of beauty experts swear by coconut oil for the skin. But is this stuff for real? There is a growing body of research providing proof that coconut oil is in fact a wonder product for clean, clear and beautiful skin. With its antibacterial and antifungal properties, coconut oil makes a perfect face and body wash, while also acting as an excellent moisturiser.
We have summed up our favourite ways to use coconut oil for the skin:
1. Bath Oil
Add a few spoons of coconut oil to your warm bath to create a relaxing bath time experience. It will help to relieve and unwind tired skin, and you will emerge smelling beautiful!
2. Hand/Foot Scrub
Add one part coconut oil (1/2 cup) to two parts (1 cup) brown sugar and mix together to form a beautiful natural exfoliator. Rub over your hands, feet and other dry or rough skin areas and you will be left feeling smooth and soft. The sugar helps to exfoliate away dead skin, while to coconut oil removes any bacteria or fungus and mosturises the skin.
3. Face Wash
Simply splash your face with warm water and rub coconut oil over it. Gently wipe with a face cloth or soft cotton pad, and then rinse with warm water.
4. Shaving Cream
Use coconut oil for the legs, underarms to create the perfect shaving cream. You don’t need all those chemicals found in regular shaving cream, and it will leave your skin feeling moisturised and smooth.
5. Baby Bath
Store-bought soaps are often too harsh for baby’s soft skin. Use coconut oil instead, it will nourish and moisturise baby’s skin while also cleaning well.
6. Massage Oil
There really is nothing better than a coconut oil massage! Ask your loved one to release tired muscles in your neck, back, arms and legs with a quick rub-down with some coconut oil. Works best when coconut oil is melted to liquid form.
Add a small strokes of coconut oil over your cheekbones to add some extra shine!
8. Eye make-up Remover
Coconut oil is a wonderful and effective make-up remover, breaking up heavy mascara or eyeliner. It is also very gentle on the eyes and will not sting if you accidentally get it into your eyelids. Put a few drops on a cotton pad and gently wipe over the eyes.
